WinZip switched to subscriptions in 2024. We didn't.
Our largest competitor went subscription-only — annual renewals required, version-locked perpetual users left behind. PowerArchiver Enterprise (per-seat or Unlimited) stays perpetual: you own the license. PA Select premium maintenance is 25% of license per year, or 50% for the 3-year plan — a fraction of what subscription competitors charge. Skip renewal and the licensed software keeps working on the version you bought.
- You own the license — perpetual, never expires. Subscriptions rent; we sell.
- Substantially lower TCO — Enterprise Unlimited license + cheap optional maintenance typically costs a fraction of equivalent subscription pricing over 5 years.
- Cheap maintenance — PA Select is far below subscription rates. Skip a year? Your perpetual license keeps running.

PowerArchiver has been continuously developed and shipped since 1998 by ConeXware Inc. — privately held, US-based, no PE rollups, no acquisition by a subscription consolidator. Our compression engine is white-labeled to other vendors (notably Ashampoo), which keeps the codebase battle-tested at scale.

Is PowerArchiver Enterprise really perpetual? What happens at "renewal"?
Yes — perpetual. The Enterprise license you purchase (per-seat or Unlimited) keeps working forever, with no expiration date. PowerArchiver Select is the premium maintenance plan that adds priority phone / chat support, Live Registration, Cloud Settings Sync, and the the next major version major-version upgrade entitlement — priced at 25%/yr or 50% for the 3-year plan. Skip it and your licensed software keeps running on the version you bought.
When does Enterprise Unlimited make more sense than per-seat?
Both paths ship the same FIPS 140-2 + HIPAA + DFARS + IT-control feature set. Per-seat at $59.95 (with volume discounts) is the right call when you have a predictable seat count and want straightforward per-machine licensing. Enterprise Unlimited (from $4,995, custom-scaled with org size) wins when you need org-wide deployment without seat counting, frequent staff turnover would create license-tracking overhead, or your procurement prefers a single fixed-fee purchase over per-seat math. Breakeven is typically around 500–1,000 seats. We'll model both side-by-side as part of your quote.
How does deployment work — what's in the deployment kit?
Enterprise customers receive: 64-bit and 32-bit MSI installers, an MSI property reference (silent install flags, feature lockdown options, encryption policy enforcement), example SCCM / Intune / GPO command lines, and an admin lockdown guide. PACL CLI is included for scripted automation. Email sales after purchase to receive the kit, or request it as part of the quote.
Can we buy through GSA, SEWP, or a preferred reseller channel?
Yes — Enterprise Unlimited deployments routinely route through GSA / SEWP and other government schedules; custom procurement support is included. Per-seat Enterprise orders can also route through a preferred reseller; mention your channel on the quote form and we'll work with the reseller of record. White-label / OEM relationships are also available — contact sales to discuss.
Are licenses transferable? What if our user count drops?
Licenses are not user-locked — they're purchased in user-pool tiers, not assigned to named individuals. If staff turns over, the license stays with your organization. There's no "true-up" obligation if user count drops below the starting tier; the only number that matters is the starting purchase. License transfers between organizations (e.g., during M&A) are supported with a quick written notice — contact sales.
What documentation do you provide for our security / legal review?
Standard package: FIPS 140-2 validation reference, EULA + master licensing agreement, SHA-256 installer checksums, vulnerability disclosure policy, and the MSI property reference. Enterprise customers can also request: SOC-style attestations (limited — we're a software vendor, not a hosted service), data-handling statement (we don't host customer data), and a redacted incident-response runbook. Request these alongside your quote.
"A strong feature set and impressive flexibility are what we love most about PowerArchiver."
